Downtown is getting its first craft brewery

The renowned Pegasus City Brewery based in the Design District plans on opening a new location on the ground floor of the Historic Dallas Power and Lights Building. The independent brewery founded by a local couple, is relatively new to the scene but made a big name for itself when it won The Dallas Observer’s 2018 best brew award.

The new location will serve small batches of experiential drinks as well as a more conventional taproom and outdoor beer garden. The beer garden will extend outside into the Browder St food truck plaza, adding value to both spaces. Although not on Main St, the new location is sure to drive attention further south as the blend of historic Dallas architecture and modern brews are sure to have a wide appeal.

The expansion of local stores and restaurants in Downtown is a strong indicator for growth as the neighborhood is known for its lack of identity relative to other major city centers and adjacent neighborhoods such as Uptown. It’s pre-war architecture it surly underutilized in comparison to other cities and local companies such as Pegasus City are reinforcing the push to make Downtown a welcoming environment for both businesses and residents.
