Dallas Growth Mirrors Los Angeles in the 80's
We’ve all seen new apartments and high rises go up across Dallas in the past few years. The influx of new people has caused a lot of changes, making many longtime Dallas residents both excited and anxious about how the city will develop in the coming decades.
A study done by JLL Real Estate Investment compared the population growth of Dallas and Los Angeles during the 80’s. The consensus was that Dallas would experience many of the growing pains L.A. has experienced such as expensive and limited housing, traffic, and gentrification.
But the situation isn’t all bad however, for homeowners, it means their properties values will grow with the city. It’s also important to recognize that the reason for the large population increase is because the Dallas / North Texas economy is strong, adding a little over 100,000 jobs between 2017 and 2018.
Dallas has and will continue to grow rapidly over the coming decades, L.A. can be a useful case study to help manage many of the problems that come with a cities development.
