New tower could dominate Dallas skyline

A project proposed last year could see the area between city hall and I-30 transformed into a “Smart District” with a 78 story tower, which if built, would be the tallest in Dallas.

The main tower itself could accommodate over 50,000 workers and in total the project is slated to have 600,000 to 1-million square feet of office space. The site would also include retail and residential building, with an emphasis on pedestrian accessibility and comfort. In the current plans, there is a large portion of space set aside for parks and bike paths.

Although the firm proposing the project, Hoque Global, has already acquired the land, many improvements in infrastructure need to be made in the area before construction can begin. With such an ambitious project, planning and funding will likely take a few more years and its also possible that the project will be scaled back between then and know.
