Is housing taste in Dallas changing?
The stereotypical millennial is abandoning the car and dreams of owning a home in exchange for public transportation and city living. However, a study conducted by Zillow is showing that young people in Dallas have, for the most part, the same housing aspiration as previous generations.
When asked what their housing situation would be if money weren’t an issue, 80% of Dallas respondents under 35 said they would want to own a single family home, especially among those with children. However, one shift that has taken place is millennial transportation preferences. Only 35% said they wanted to live near a highway, with and equal number preferring to be near public transportation, much higher then previous generations.
Its clear that most young people in Dallas want to own a single family in the suburbs but also want access to conveniences of city life.
